ASU-Arkfeld eDiscovery, Law and Technology Conference

On March 5th and 6th2024, Larimer attorneys Kaili Mutka, Heather Distefano, and Jason Zirbel journeyed from our Buffalo and Rochester offices to attend the 12th annual ASU-Arkfeld eDiscovery, Law and Technology Conference in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.  Esteemed attorney and author Michael Arkfeld, who lectures extensively on eDiscovery and the intersection of law and technology, founded the conference held at ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.

The conference joined a fellowship of legal professionals and technologists who shared informative perspectives on transformative topics in eDiscovery, data privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.  Among the conference panelists were several state and federal judges, including U.S. District Court Judge for the Western District of Texas, the Honorable Xavier Rodriguez.  Judge Rodriguez delivered his judicial perspective on the rise of generative AI in the legal practice, a hot topic of the conference.  Discovery counsel from companies such as Meta Platforms, Inc. and Google were also panel members, offering insights into the eDiscovery perspectives of some of the largest purveyors of data worldwide.

In addition to the conference itself, the Larimer delegation basked in the Phoenix desert warmth. While they weren’t quite able to fry an egg on the sidewalk, they enjoyed a much-appreciated reprieve from the not-so-fair-weather upstate New York region.  The team also enjoyed tasting local foods and sampling area restaurants.

The Larimer team was thrilled to be a part of such a respected gathering of legal professionals and industry experts and participate in a collegial and informative exchange of ideas on emerging eDiscovery trends, challenges, and solutions.
